As a Human Resources Consultant at Comerica Bank, I provide HR strategic support to the National Small Business Banking division and Wealth Management in Texas, Arizona and Florida and Private Banking.  I work in partnership with clients to influence and achieve strategic priorities for their business units, pro-actively manage a range of operational Human Resources issues, support performance management and coach line managers in optimum use of talent and performance approaches.


The most valuable piece of advice that I could provide is to get assistance with your resume and the interview process. When I got out of the military, I had a difficult time finding jobs initially. I knew I had the skills and knowledge to be successful in some of the roles I applied for, but I had a difficult time translating how my military experience could add value to the civilian workforce. Once I got help updating my resume to highlight my experience in civilian terms and learned how to communicate that in interviews, my career took off.


I was in the Personnel career field in the military, which is comparable to Human Resources in the civilian workforce. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Master of Science in Human Resources degrees in the Air Force. Additionally, I learned leadership skills through my training in the Senior Airman Leadership School and the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. Shortly after leaving the military, I earned my Professional in Human Resources Certification and in 2015 I earned my Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification. I truly believe my education and professional certifications have greatly contributed to the success in my career.
