Manager, Business Analysts
U.S. Army - Airborne Infantryman

I served as an Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1985 to 1989, deploying in peacetime to Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Alaska for short durations and training opportunities. Following the military, I began my career as a Systems Technical Specialist at the Atlanta Factory for Nestlé Purina in November of 1999. After pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree, I entered the management track in 2006, leading to assignments in Zanesville and Flagstaff as an Information Systems Manager. Currently I am serving in the Engineering Department (MES) as a manager of Business Analysts leading software development efforts as a Product Owner. Today, I lead a multi-skilled Software Development Team while advocating for Stakeholders at our corporate office and within the factories.

My transition was fairly pleasant due to the nature of my work in Telecom when I left the service. I was able to rely on myself for the majority of my work, and utilized my abilities to communicate effectively to ensure customer satisfaction. However, finding a purpose that was as rewarding as the accomplishments while serving was an obstacle of transitioning out of the military.

Prepare to form relationships with people in many different ways than you currently do. Trust is earned and given in different ways than in the military.
