The best advice I could offer to a transitioning military member would be to network with the online job-finding sites. Make sure that you have an updated Linkedin account. I received multiple job leads on Linkedin. Ensure that a professional service review your up-to-date resume. Be careful not to use too much military jargon on your resume. Unless you are applying for a DOD Defense Contractor, our military acronyms and standard terms can be confusing to civilian companies. Be able to equate your military education to a commensurate civilian skill set.
Your ability to lead others is looked upon as “Management Material.” Annotate any leadership related schools and/or certifications. If you held a position that impacted your entire Command/Unit, note it on your resume.
