I work in Wellsville, NY as a 2nd shift supervisor on the shop floor. I’m responsible for overlooking multiple departments and keeping employees working safe. My military service has given me experiences that are invaluable to my current position. The Army taught me self-discipline and to be accountable for my actions. This carries over to my current role.
I joined the Army reserve in June, 2004 right after graduating from high school. I was very happy to serve my country but as I got to the end of my enlistment, I was torn between staying or separating from the service. Reenlisting would mean another 4-6 years or I could start a family and continue with my civilian career. The Army gave me valuable experience in leadership, accountability and detail oriented work. These experiences and job skills made me a good fit when I applied to D-R for a machinist position in 2008.
Initially I joined the D-R team as a machinist running a Vertical boring mill. Since then I have put my leadership skills to work as a 2nd shift supervisor. This position of increased responsibility has expanded my ability to make a difference within the company. My time at SGT/D-R has broadened my horizons and given me the skills I need to get where I am today and continue to grow and advance in my career.
