Account Manager
U.S. Army - Specialist, Military Police

My current role is all about creating relationships and building trust, as an Account Manager for TEKsystems. This stands true internally and externally. I am responsible for training recruiters who report to me, as well as being the person from TEKsystems that my clients can rely on to identify top talent. Leadership skills are key in this role, along with constant and direct communication. This is definitely something that overlaps from my military life.

My advice is to learn from those around you and reach out to others in your organization that have gone through the same transition. Each person has different strengths and advice to give, it just takes you making the effort to reach out and ask for help to make the difference. Our strengths and life experiences gained as veterans/military are traits that we need to acknowledge and use to their full extent. We deal well under pressure and can rise to any occasion, we need to make that known and at the same time be open to feedback. Transitioning from military life to civilian can be challenging, but if we are truly open to coaching, we can make the transition a much smoother one.

I joined the Army National Guard in 2000, and joined as a Military Policeman.
