I manage the content in the TIAA Human Resources (HR) self-service online experience for employees. I believe understanding practical ways to manage and achieve goals, in even the most trying circumstances, is crucial for achieving success within a company. My military experience has taught me theses values and prepared me for the business world. Having worked alongside others regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or mental and physical capabilities, I am pleased to see this type of value system incorporated into TIAA’s diversity and inclusion efforts and military-hiring initiatives. As the New York Chapter Lead for TIAA’s Military and Veterans Employee Resource Group (ERG), I feel that hiring veterans is one thing, but giving them a support network like the ERG shows an extra commitment to helping with a successful transition. And because the transition from a military environment to a corporate environment can be a rough ride, I am also pleased to be involved in the design of a program to help mentor veterans at TIAA.
