About
Christopher

My transition to Vivint Solar was kind of a dream. I had just returned from deployment with a college degree and years of experience and knew I needed to find a company where I could add value.

I searched and used several veteran pipelines and ultimately was introduced to Vivint Solar via a colleague who had left a previous company where we worked. The thing that grabbed me was the values and vision of Vivint Solar. I met immediately with several executives who were very well rounded individuals leading a company that had as a motto, save money and save the world.

I have seen the company leadership live the values of this company day in and day out and have loved being able to add immense value to what this company does. It has been a great opportunity to find a home in the rapidly growing and very innovative solar industry, and make a difference while now wearing a different uniform.

On a daily basis I get to recruit top talent to the second largest residential solar installer in the US. I interact with executives and hiring leaders in the company to influence and educate decision making and policy. My NCO leadership and organizational skills have come in very handy as well as the “mission first” mindset. That is something that individuals in corporate America love.

My advice to my fellow service members would be to soak it all in. Every no is a yes somewhere down the line. We bring a unique and polished skillset to this great nation and can and will add value where we go. It is important to always match a job description to your resume before sending that in. If you are not getting invites for interviews after multiple resume submissions, then something is wrong with the resume. If you are not getting offers of employment after multiple interviews, then something is wrong with your interview skills. Sell yourself and have confidence, especially when you meet the qualifications and expertise required for the role.

The military will pay you mediocre pay regardless of how well or poorly you perform and will use force if necessary to compel you to perform your duties. As a Vivint Solar sales manager compensation is based on merit. The sky is the limit. You write your own pay check by how hard and how well you decide to work. For those who are self motivated, self disciplined and organized this a great opportunity to have a multi-$100k income.
