The Production Grinder has 3+ years experience in carbide form work. They are familiar with and able to operate with minimal assistance all machines necessary to complete work assignments (specifically Bridgeport and Harig grinders). They have, or will procure, the checking devices needed to perform the job functions. The Company maintains a Tool Purchase Program to assist in these purchases.
The Production Grinder will receive training to set up jobs, including wheel dressing, in preparation for form grinding.
Working with blueprints drawn to 4 place decimal dimensions and allowing tolerances of .001 or less, the Production Grinder can produce tooling to the print dimensions and within the time allowance quoted.
The Production Grinder has skill sets which allow the assignment of 50% of all grinding jobs currently in process. These skills are expected to progress as the Grinder becomes more familiar with Company requirements.
These skills and training required for this position are not the same as the skills required for tool and die or injection molding. Persons with experience in those areas are generally not good candidates for carbide grinding work.
