2018 Finance Internship Program (Undergraduate)
Finance Track: The Finance Internship Program (FIP) is an internship opportunity for highly-motivated individuals interested in pursuing a career in Corporate Finance through one of two tracks:
Line of Business Finance: The Line of Business Finance group is the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) arm of our Corporate Finance structure. In this function, interns can expect to:
Treasury: The Treasury team is ultimately responsible for funding Discover's loan portfolio. In this function, interns can expect to: Assist on regular reporting and analysis needs for the overall teamWork collaboratively with groups across Treasury to deliver value-add process improvementLearn the fundamentals of how the Treasury department operates (heavy emphasis on Cash Management)
In addition to job responsibilities, Finance interns will also have several networking and business acumen-building opportunities: Intern Learning Series: a week-long crash course in the different Finance functions (Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Risk Management, Corporate Purchasing, Investor Relations) to get an understanding of how they support Discover's overall strategic objectivesIntern Breakfast Series: a weekly informal networking session with an officer in Finance (VP and above) to gain career insight and ask questions Final Presentation: an opportunity to present each intern's Summer projects, recommendations, and feedback to the larger Finance community, including senior leadershipPeer mentor: each intern is assigned a recent-grad mentor to gain career insight and have a go-to person for any relevant questions/concerns.
*Individuals enrolled in an accredited Bachelors Program who will have completed their senior year by June 2020
*Must have a graduation date between December 2018 - June 2020
*A minimum of a 3.0 GPA on 4.0 grade point average scale
*This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
*Working towards a bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business or related field,
