Location: Houston, Texas

Reporting Relationships: The A&D Analyst will report directly to the Managing Directors within the A&D Group, and will work closely with a team of highly experienced technically focused energy investment bankers.

Business Overview:

Wells Fargo’s A&D group focuses on providing technical and financial advisory services to primarily upstream oil and gas companies as they acquire or divest assets and/or the entire company. The A&D Team is a relatively new and growing group within Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, and is a significant part of Wells Fargo’s ongoing commitment to expand its existing energy platform.

The A&D Analyst will provide multifaceted support for Wells Fargo’s A&D Group. Primary responsibilities will include preparation of pitch materials, marketing documents, dataroom presentations, client management, and financial models, as well as data gathering, data manipulation and visualization, data screening, data analysis, and database maintenance. These tasks will be performed by working directly with an A&D associate and other Analysts.

Must have a willingness to help and contribute to the success of the A&D team wherever needed – may include such things as printing and binding books, data room logistics, coordinating with other Wells Fargo departments, etc. These services are provided as part of a team consisting of Analysts, Associates, Vice Presidents, Directors and Managing Directors.

Must have excellent organization skills and good interpersonal skills as the Analyst will be preparing materials for oil and gas company executives, as well as working with other Wells Fargo departments and vendors. Should be diligent, proactive, and have multi-tasking abilities. We are looking for a strong team player that is flexible to support whatever project/work that is required to complete the task including extended hours and possible weekend work. They must demonstrate a high level of personal motivation and willingness to take on significant responsibility. The A&D Analyst must be comfortable functioning both independently and as part of a team, meeting stringent deadlines and high work quality standards. Some knowledge and natural interest in the oil and gas industry would be helpful in this role.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of capital markets industry experience; or 2+ years of financial services industry experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with an academic distinction and coursework in financial accounting, corporate finance, or a technical field such as engineer with an ability to prove understanding of finance
  • Demonstrated excellence in working effectively as an individual and as part of a team
  • Must have strong experience working within Microsoft Office’s suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access) including experience modeling in Excel
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong motivation and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused collaborative and fast paced team environment with a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results
  • Knowledge of the following software is a plus:
  • IHS and/or other Oil and Gas data sources
  • Familiarity with reserves databases including PHDWin or ARIES
  • ArcGIS or other mapping software
