North American Commercial is the 'face' of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.
AstraZeneca holds a unique position in respiratory disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), with a range of differentiated potential medicines in development by leveraging novel combinations, biologics and devices. The pipeline also has a number of promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases within areas such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
Reporting to the Sr. Director Market Access Strategy, the Access Strategy Leader will be responsible for implementing the Respiratory Biologics access strategy.  The Leader will work closely with key partners to ensure payer access as well as seamless/timely approval and distribution of the Respiratory Biologics medications.  The role will develop and manage patient affordability strategies and programs.  This candidate will work closely with the customer facing market access teams in addition to Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs and Insight teams to ensure a positive customer experience and alignment toward the overall brand objectives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for collaboratings with Sr. Director/Director level customer facing account teams to maximize the biologics strategy.
Collaborates with cross-functional team (Marketing, Contracting, Insights, Medical Affairs, Access Hub and Field Reimbursement Teams)
Develops compelling and differentiated product value propositions and builds associated customer education materials
Partners with Contracting Strategy to develop effective contracting offerings that achieve access and contribution goals
Leads in the design and implementation of affordability programming that ensures patient access while carefully stewarding brand budget and gross to net impact
Collaborates with the HCP/Marketing team on customer communication strategies and promotional assets.
Develops specialty pharmacy engagement and distribution strategies and tactics that support the overall access strategy - working closely with the customer facing teams.
Effectively manages agency relationships ensuring promotional programs are delivered on-time and within budget
Develops and manages associated budgets in compliance with AZ finance and accounting requirements
Performs all company business in accordance with regulations and company policies and procedures
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required. MBA preferred
  • 5+ years progressive experience within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical market including payer marketing, contracting, account management, and/or specialty field sales
  • Understanding of the US specialty market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals
  • Recent Specialty Biologics experience strong preferred
  • Ability to think strategically across the full business and to translate strategy into tactical implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate colleagues at all levels to execute on strategy
  • Teamwork and leadership skills, including the ability to gain consensus and act within ambiguous, complex matrix organization
  • Understanding of customer and industry marketing practices and trends

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%)
