As an IBM Accounting Analyst, you will play an integral role as a 'trusted business advisor' and as such you will influence key business decisions that impact internal and external client facing operations and help drive business results for one or more of the company's business segments and geographical operating units. You will have vast opportunities to develop accounting expertise, financial acumen and leadership skills.
IBM Accounting is responsible to accurately record the company's financial performance using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP), IBM Accounting Practices and Local Statutory Principles. Professionals working in this area are responsible for some or all of the following:
- Perform and/or advise on operational accounting activities (e.g. transaction recording, month-end trial balance adjustments, etc.)
- Evaluate and conclude on complex technical accounting issues (e.g. revenue recognition, cost and expense accruals and deferrals, etc.)
- Prepare and report financial performance, including comprehensive and meaningful analysis and interpretation of financial data, to Accounting and Finance senior management and executives
- Operation and control of accounting systems and applications, ensuring high standards of control over financial reporting
