Job Summary: Participates in the rate-making, reserving, and risk evaluation functions. Counsels management and advises on underwriting functions that require actuarial or mathematical techniques to determine approrpriate courses of action. Assures preparation and interpretation of data in support of rate filings with various state insurance departments. Determines rates of mortality, sickness, retirement, etc. based on analysis of statistical data. Assists in design of insurance plans, calculation of premiums, determining cash reserves and premium rates necessary to ensure sufficient funds for benefits payment and profitability.
Functional Responsibilities: Performs actuarial tasks which are of a mathematical and/or higher-level administrative nature. Compiles and categorizes data for experience analyses and reports. Prepares schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, reserves and benefits; documents and verifies factors used in related computations. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Typical Experience: Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science. Committed to completing the Society of Actuaries' education system courses necessary to attain FSA designation; passage of Exam P. 2-5 yrs. related business experience.
