This role is within the EMEA valuation department and is primarily responsible for supporting the financial reporting and actuarial analysis for the Middle East Sub-Region of EMEA.

 

The Valuation Actuary will support MetLife’s earnings targets within EMEA-Middle East sub-region by providing accurate and timely financial actuarial reports. The Actuary will interact with regional or local financial peers and work on various ongoing projects within EMEA to better align with the region's strategic plans. Critical to the unit’s operations, the incumbent will need to be analytical, detailed oriented, and have strong organizational skills.

 

The successful candidate will assist in executing MetLife’s best practice processes, aligning with MetLife’s strategic objectives, while continually delivering on all aspects of service and driving customer centricity.

 

 

  • Support all aspects of financial reporting for the sub-region, especially in regard to GAAP Financial Statements, professional standards, and regulatory compliance.  Prepare, review and analyze various actuarial items for territories in the sub-region.
  • Review appropriate methodologies and assumptions for new products and special product features.
  • Implement new products into valuation systems.
  • Perform loss recognition and recoverability analysis.
  • Insure the integrity of the valuation process and results produced.
  • Make recommendations to improve the financial reporting process for the sub-region.
  • Maintain process documentation as required under Sarbanes-Oxley. Ensure performance and documentation of controls.
  • Assist with the preparation of actuarial items for territorial budgets in the sub-region.
  • Act as an actuarial resource to sub-regional and local offices.

 

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant actuarial experience in life insurance valuation, financial reporting or modeling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or related field.
  • Recent FSA or career ASA with appropriate experiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • PolySystems, SAS or other actuarial software knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to effectively work with teams within a global setting.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
