The NPI Engineering Manager – Additive Manufacturing reports directly to the Operations Manager This is the key technical connection role to the customer, and works closely with the commercial group in preparing quotes, operation team, R&D and customer, to create innovative offerings to achieve Austin’s growth targets. This position will lead the NPI engineers in working with the commercial team as well as the NPI Program Manager ensuring that new products or customer parts are properly developed, qualified, managed, and launched into production. This is a working engineering manager role. This role is responsible for the IP protection as appropriate.

This role will at times work with the Advanced Manufacturing R&D team and / or drive continuous improvement efforts in additive manufacturing and will participate in in the development of Austin’s strategy with required capital investments to support growth during program ramp-up. This position is expected to monitor execution plan details, working with different functional disciplines (engr., mfg., commercial, scheduling, quality, and design engineering) to ensure the timely completion of the new product schedules, identification and implementation of process excellence activities for the business; recommend and implement improvements to the production process, methods and controls. This role also provides guidance and experienced technical and quality support to the product engineering and quality teams on critical issues such as quality and productivity improvements to resolution. This role should have a solid understanding of the competitive landscape and the locations capabilities for capturing and driving synergy savings and growth opportunities. The NPI Engineering manager should have the ability to apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency and safety, lead activities to move towards a problem-solving and execution culture, manage the development, delivery, and continuous process improvement tools to create business stabilization and assist in the development of standardized work into production crews. Drive Cost Saving initiatives across the Austin location.
