Capital One Bank is seeking a highly motivated Agile Coach to assist with our Agile Transformation. Our team is primarily focused on helping teams on their journey to Agility. We focus on understanding the core challenges that impede flow of work and coach on techniques to overcome them. Our primary goal is to create awareness of the core principles that make Agile work and the challenges to realizing those principles. From this shared awareness we provide training, consulting and coaching to remove challenges and increase Agility.

Qualified candidates will have an extremely solid background in Lean and Agile methods and experience leading transformations. Candidates should also be grounded in various work management techniques such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean and scaling frameworks like SAFe. Candidates should be comfortable working with non-technology teams and teams that are on different points of the journey (entirely new to Agile to relatively high performing Agile Teams).


  • Help lead effort to continue progress transforming a ~300 person Product & Marketing organization from Waterfall to Agile Delivery
  • Manage internal and external Agile coaching resources
  • Create and send communications to team for continued education and information
  • Lead efforts to elevate the organization as a whole - advocate and guide other groups in their agile journey
  • Teach/Mentor/Coach the teams on Agile practices, roles, artifacts and ceremonies
  • Convey the core principles that make agile work and do so in a compelling way
  • Help teams and management understand their roles in an agile environment
  • Coach leaders in Agile leadership
  • Assess team Agile competency
  • Monitor team sentiment on Agile and take actions to maintain positive trajectory
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within teams
  • Assist team members improving role specific skills
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing Agile teams
  • Bring industry knowledge from the Agile community
  • Meet with management and stakeholders to discuss successes, challenges, Agile adoption & delivery progress and solutions for improvement
  • Guidance on team design and composition and potential changes
  • Motivate and energize teams
  • Be able to identify root causes that impede the flow of work/value delivery
  • Discover root causes from symptomatic behaviors
  • Foster an Agile community

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • At least two years of Agile experience
  • At least 1 year of experience as a mentor
  • At least 1 year of experience practicing Scrum or at least 1 years of experience in Kanban work management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A PMP certification, or a Lean certification, or an Agile certification, or a Six Sigma certification
  • 1 year of experience coaching senior level executives on Agile
  • 1 year of experience assessing team performance
  • 1 year of experience leading Agile transformations in non-technology contexts
