We are offering an internship in the area of algorithm development and software prototyping. The intern's main tasks include designing and implementing application tools to facilitate using lighting as an asset for grid integration. Towards the end of the internship, we will ask the intern to prepare a technical report as well as a presentation for the department. The candidate is expected to work in a team setting with scientists and contribute innovative ideas. We are looking for a graduate level student (PhD preferred) in Engineering/Computer Science or other related disciplines. Experience in optimization, machine learning and simulation is required. Proficient coding skills in VBA, Java, C/C++, or other programming languages is also necessary. Knowledge on lighting systems, demand response and building energy standards is desired. Candidate must be comfortable working within a team environment and demonstrate the ability to plan and execute independent research activities. Candidate should also be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and written.
