Reporting to the Head of ALM Modeling, this position at Brighthouse Financial is responsible for supporting the ALM modeling efforts within the General Account Asset-Liability Management (ALM) team. The ALM Modeling team is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of third-party and/or proprietary models and tools used to assess the company’s assets, liabilities, and surplus and drive business decisions.

  • Support the development, implementation, execution, and maintenance of the company’s asset- liability modeling platform
  • Assist in the regular production of ALM metrics, including duration, convexity, and key-rate durations, derived from model runs
  • Prepare, analyze, and manage large data sets in a logical and consistent manner in line with best-in-class data governance
  • Assist with the development and refinement of ALM models to support the needs of the Lines of Business
  • Implement, validate, and document ALM modeling changes
  • Partner with Risk to ensure proper governance, controls, and documentation related to ALM models
  • Practice sound governance around decision making and implementation of ALM modeling tools in a centralized and efficient production environment
  • Work with other General Account and Variable Annuity ALM team members to coordinate enterprise reporting and develop a consistent view of ALM outputs and assist with related efforts from broader Treasury, Actuarial, Finance, and Risk groups
  • Monitor industry best practices, including practitioner and academic research, related to ALM and asset allocation tools to better inform the ALM modeling process
  • Support internal Treasury & ALM initiatives
  • Perform other related activities as required



  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of experience with increasing responsibilities in related to ALM models, financial markets, or actuarial science.
  • Must have strong quantitative and analytics skills with the ability to comprehend complex technical work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


  • Experience with actuarial software such as MoSes, Prophet, etc.
  • Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) is a plus
