About Co-Ops These positions are for a June- Dec/Jan time frame. Co-Op positions at Philips are offered on a full-time basis (40 hours per week). To be eligible for co-op positions, you must be available to work full-time for the full June-Dec/Jan timeframe. You must be CURRENTLY ENROLLED in a degree program for the full duration of your employment with Philips. Your Challenge A physics/software engineering co-op/intern is needed to join a dynamic image reconstruction and physics team to develop exciting new PET/CT medical imaging systems. The term for this co-op/internship is 6 to 8 months. Your Role - Primary responsibility is to assist with the daily upkeep and maintenance of testing systems and assist senior developers with debugging and identifying points of failure. - Assist developers with module testing and defect investigations. - Assist with the development of algorithms for image reconstruction, data correction, and image processing to improve PET quantification and image quality for a multi-processor, multi-server PET image reconstruction subsystem. This includes supporting all aspects of software development including requirements analysis, specification, design, implementation, source control, unit testing, integration testing, validation, documentation, release, and ongoing support. What We Are Looking For - Candidate for a BS in physics, computer science, bioengineering, or related technical discipline. Candidate should have completed sophomore level courses. - High level of creativity with a passion for software and algorithm development. Excellent academic record. - Experience with scripting (Perl, csh), MATLAB, IDL, C# and .NET framework in Microsoft Visual Studio environment is desirable. - Experience with C++ in both a UNIX and Windows environment. Understanding of distributed processing and the challenges of sharing data across multiple systems. Knowledge of SOAP, UNIX shell scripting, common networking protocols/applications and distributed database management is a plus. - Excellent skills in the areas of verbal/written communication, problem solving, and leadership. Able to work independently with only moderate supervision.
