Farmers Group Inc. (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert II (Enterprise Data Business Intelligence (EDBI) Single Customer View Database) to develop and provide expert knowledge to projects within the EDBI Single Customer View Database; analyze and revise existing processes to ensure distribution of quality customer and policy information across Farmers for customer self-service, service operations, agency dashboard, e-contact management system and various documentation and analytics specifications.

Specific responsibilities include: formulating and defining system scope and business objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems such as MDM and SCV DB; coordinating with the Business Analyst to prepare detailed specifications from which programs are written; analyzing and revising existing system logic difficulties and documentation by business users and assessing impact both internally and externally and coordinating with downstream business units for testing and validation; building transformation rules to convert data from various lines of businesses; building data models and customizing data extraction rules based on business rules; performing impact analysis of application changes across various components, holding an end-to-end view of the system; estimating Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality; supporting in risk assessment, project scope, and development of a high level plan; providing subject matter expert knowledge to manage core operational activities such as managing balancing and controls, application scorecard, and mainframe file delivery to end users; driving automation for research and reduction of out of balances and tracking to agreed business service level agreements (SLAs) for out of balance reprocessing and aging; coordinating with Onshore Vendor Team for task assignment, code reviews, knowledge transition sessions and maintaining requisite application documentation; providing defect support for existing applications by logging and tracking them; and supporting implementation activities and troubleshooting system environmental issues.

Position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as a Software Engineer, Project Manager, Software Developer, Subject Matter Expert, Technical Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Associate Consultant, or similar position.

Specific experience must include: at least 5 years working in data extraction, data integration and reporting, and working in P&C Insurance; at least 4 years working in Mainframe application development; and working with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as DB2, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle; and at least 2 years of experience creating IT Requirement/Specification documentation.
