Department Description

Oracle Knowledge (aka InQuira) Product Delivery team is responsible for supporting and enhancing the Oracle Knowledge central build environment, cloud provisioning, application monitoring, release and program management processes. You will work closely with development, QA and other internal teams to delivery our products to customers in a consistent and timely manner.


The primary responsibility of the Release Automation Engineer will be to work on implementing and enhancing our development and test environments and related processes and tasks. More specific responsibilities include:

Create automation scripts in Shell, Python, Java APIs, JSON, Weblogic, etc to automate build, release and cloud provisioning processes
Manage the day to day operations of the build continuous integrations with QA automation and security checks
Perform debugging to determine where automation failures should be directed to be addressed
Design & Implement a reliable build/test automation framework
Effectively communicate and collaborate with dev and QA teams
Code management and implement best practices

Desired Skills and Experience

>3 years' experience as a dev or cloud ops with strong scripting and Java skills
B.S. in Computer Science or other related field or equivalent
Understand software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum and SDLC
Strong experience with Linux and windows environments
Experience with Python, Shell, WLST and other scripting languages
Detail oriented problem solving skills
Process oriented, good communicator with strong collaboration skills
Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
