Help us shape and build a global testing practice. Microsoft Testing Services is looking for a Test Architect who has a mix of hands on test experience, development, customer and strategic business acumen.

This role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping common customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions. A solid understanding of software development lifecycle and demonstrated ability to engage in senior level business and technology decision maker’s discussions related to agility, business value, and end to end information technology.

Test Architects deliver engagements as a technical subject matter expert or as a team member on medium sized projects and are key enablers for other consultants and partner staff.

The Test Architect is an individual who is highly resourceful, confident under pressure and has a passion for the customer which is demonstrated through professionalism and striving for excellence in all aspects of the customer experience. The Test Architect must apply advanced analysis skills and experience in testing solutions with both a delivery focus for support to customers and a pre-sales/business development focus for new and existing offerings. Internal contributions should have global impact with targeted impact for all of Services.

The role requires deep process knowledge, broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping customer needs and requirements to process-combined-with-technology testing services solutions.

Provide technical mentoring, assessment and development to consultants in related technical communities. Contribute to IP development and reuse initiatives and drive proven practices in architecture, planning, and customer relationships. Providing customer guidance during product and services sales cycle Playing a vital part in business strategy by providing internal practice management risk assessment and review

Driving successful solution deployments by ensuring proper business value and customer/partner satisfaction Growing the business through mentoring, talent pipeline development, and community evangelism

Driving operational excellence and innovation

Practical Experience in Performance/Scale testing of solutions

Proven ability to solve challenging problems and deliver timely and high quality design solutions when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands, and technical risks.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

8-10 years of experience in Software Testing or Development, preferably leading a test or tools team

Work experience should involve pre-sales support, technical consulting, solution design, project envisioning, planning, development, deployment, and management.

Strong knowledge of software development life cycle and development environments

Depth and expert knowledge must include Microsoft technologies, industry standards and competition.

Demonstrated experience with expertise in one or more of the following technologies: Visual Studio Languages (VB, C/C#/C++) Performance/Load Testing with VSTS and other 3rd party test tools
Visual Studio Release Management and Automation
Team Foundation Server (TFS) Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) .NET, Azure, Dynamics, SharePoint, Travel is an integral part of this position as are high levels of recognition and visibility.

Travel can be as high as 70% as is demanded by the needs of our customers and our business and includes US and International Travel. The position also will provide opportunities for Pre-Sales and participation in the delivery of key engagements with a billable utilization requirement.
