Under close supervision, performs routine and repetitive assembly operations and processes in the production of precision Leupold & Stevens¿ optics utilizing drawings, diagrams and written instructions. Activities are of a standard nature where sequence, methods, and specifications are available and require minimal interpretation. May utilize standard shop hand and power tools where set-up is easily achieved.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
¿ Consistently demonstrate and maintain established production and quality levels in assigned work areas where proficiency has been established.
¿ Visually inspect component parts for contamination or damage.
¿ Clean or remove dirt, dust, grease, adhesives or other contaminates from component parts using established procedures.
¿ Manipulate and install small parts and pieces to assemble sub-assemblies and component parts into finished product in accordance with established procedures. This may include o-rings, cam-tubes, pivot tubes, erector springs, adjustments, dials, caps, drive pins, wavy washers, step-washers, reticles (electroform), main-tubes, objective & eyepiece (build), lenses, b-rings, eye-shells, circuit boards, mirror (prep), armor and stop-nuts.
¿ Use common and specialized hand tools and assembly fixtures including items such as torque wrenches, comparators, water tester, and nitrogen filler. Use all equipment properly and in a safe manner.
¿ Follow all work area procedures and documented processes to insure product meets standards.
¿ Maintain work area cleanliness and organization for increase efficiency, accuracy and quality.
¿ Ensure work meets the area defect acceptance limitations using the established quality standards and specifications.
¿ Operate grease and or glue dispensers per work instructions and change grease brushes and fixtures as needed.
¿ Verify correct parts, torques, adhesive and lubricant applications per work instructions.
¿ Check for defects using drawings, specifications and work instructions; identify defect codes and properly tag and record the defect on the defect sheets.
¿ Identify and report to the area lead or supervisor any errors in work instructions, defective tooling or equipment, tooling or equipment in need of calibration or out of date adhesives or lubricants.
¿ Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
¿ Performs other duties as assigned.
¿ High school diploma, GED or equivalent and 3-6 months of related assembly experience.
¿ Ability to manipulate small parts into clean assemblies.
¿ Demonstrated ability to clean lenses and assemble sub-assemblies.
¿ Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions.
¿ Ability to correctly fill out data sheets and perform simple math calculations.
¿ Ability to work effectively with all team members, work with periodic supervision and adapt to different work groups.
¿ Acceptable attendance, punctuality, and ability to perform work activities in a manner that is consistent with Company policy.
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time up to 10 hours per day. Able to recognize and identify defects in accordance with established standards. Capable of lifting or moving materials up to 25 lbs. with assistance. Frequent exposure to moderate noise levels, chemicals, greases and adhesives. Able to rotate from station to station as training, workload, ergonomics, and supervision dictates.
Must have a High School or GED
