Job Description
Manpower of Northern Nevada is looking for employees with Assistant Shipping supervisor experience. The Assistant Shift Supervisor ensures that the machine working components and work areas are in safe condition. They are responsible for monitoring the production process to be sure that high quality product is being made and proper machine standards are being followed. They report deviations from the product standards to their Shift Supervisor immediately. Monitors performance, mentors and trains all shift members. Responsible for operating and maintaining machines that extrude or draw out thermoplastic materials into sheets, plates, pipes, rods, fibers or structures.

  • Maintains an understanding of the different types of raw materials and the appropriate manufacturing location.
  • Determines machine setup procedures.
  • Starts and adjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures, and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients.
  • Optimizes product output. Optimizes product quality.
  • Safely and continuously operates machinery.
  • Fills out machine setup protocols.
  • Monitors machine operations and observe lights and gauges to detect malfunctions.
  • Checks the quality of products.
  • Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as templates, micrometers, or scales.
  • Reels extruded products into rolls or palletize sheets.
  • Properly labels and packages finished goods according to standards. Safely transports rolls throughout the warehouse and into the correct bin location.
  • Completes all production protocols appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with setup procedures and set up changes as needed.
  • Coaches and trains machine operators.
  • Monitor all documentation to ensure its compliance.
  • Receives information from Shift Supervisor about: products, production schedule, raw materials and recipes, quality specifications, safety and environmental guidelines and the manufacturing process.
  • Informs the Shift Supervisor about product quality problems, equipment problems, safety concerns and process related information.
  • Informs Machine Operators about: machine setup changes.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Continuously maintain and improve workplace to where Employee and others feel safe, comfortable, and secure at work.
  • Identify and eliminate safety hazards.
  • Utilizes safety equipment and proper ergonomic techniques where required.
  • Report accidents, injuries, damage to equipment immediately.
  • Maintains situational awareness when operating heavy machinery; communicates well with team members and assists team members with accident avoidance.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements
    Five years of experience in Shipping experience with the ability to troubleshoot technical problems, High
    School diploma or GED, basic mathematics, unit conversion skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask
    in a busy safety oriented work environment. Works well in a team setting, reliable, trustworthy and maintains interpersonal, written and verbal communication abilities in English.

    Preferred Skills or Education
    Previous experience in a supervisory role with at least 5 subordinates, previous experience as a plastics/textile machine operator or experience working in an industrial setting utilizing a forklift, overhead crane, or other heavy equipment. Is Proactive, self-motivated, leadership oriented, able to help collaboratively resolve conflicts self- motivated, and has a willingness to learn new things. Associates Degree or completion of a Certificate in manufacturing, science, machine tool technology, welding, industrial technology, or other related area. General maintenance experience preferred. Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification a plus.
