  • Ensure that real estate appraisal services are conducted in a regulatory compliant, cost effective, and timely manner
  • Review appraisal service requests for completeness
  • Contribute to maintaining and managing a panel of qualified third-party real estate appraisers
  • Solicit and collect bids for appraisal services from qualified approved fee appraisers
  • Engage fee appraisers to perform appraisal services as needed
  • Perform USPAP Standard 3 reviews of third-party and internal appraisal reports under the direction of senior members of the Appraisal Team
  • Regularly conduct independent research.
  • Frequent interaction with members of Asset Management, Finance, Regulators and Auditors
  • Could act as a functional lead for the valuation of certain Portfolios 



  • Bachelor’s Degree Finance, Real Estate, or related field of study
  • State Certified General Appraiser
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in real estate valuation and appraisal review
  • Strong knowledge of valuation theory and the real estate appraisal process
  • Strong working knowledge of Argus software; ability to review and model cash flows
  • Understanding of the requirements of the Uniform Standards of professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines requirements of FIRREA
  • Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills (written and oral)
Direct experience and analytical skills relating to real estate appraisal are an essential requirement of the position. The individual will be required to understand complex valuation issues and converse directly with third-party fee appraisers, internal portfolio and asset managers, and other industry experts in the field.
High level of interaction with various stakeholders both internally and externally will be required. Individual must have overall industry knowledge and be able to plan, organize and manage with minimum supervision.  Must be a problem solver and have strong analytical skills and solid interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.  Individual may represent Nuveen in conversations and presentations to outside investors in the funds, and/or ongoing discussions with third-party appraisers, internal and external auditors and accountants.
Completion of a majority of the Appraisal Institute course work required towards MAI designation a plus.
