The Associate Brand Manager, LISTERINE® Innovation, Oral Care GFO is a highly visible role within the Global Franchise Organization (GFO). This is a pivotal role at the intersection of the global need state strategy and local brand relevance and implementation.   This position reports into the Director of Disruptive Innovation, Oral Care GFO and is based New Brunswick, NJ.


The Global Oral Care category is a $44B category and J&J is currently a top 5 manufacturer within this space with a leadership position of the Mouth Rinse segment. The portfolio primarily consists of LISTERINE®, our global mega-brand in this mouth rinse segment, and several regional brands including REACH® Floss.  Significant upside exists to continue to drive growth with LISTERINE® through category and geographic expansion. 


This Associate Brand Manager will be responsible for supporting development and implementation of new product innovation for LISTERINE® globally, with a primary focus on disruptive innovation to significantly step change Oral Care growth. Specifically, the Associate Brand Manager, LISTERINE® will:

  • With the Director, support the global strategy, planning, and execution of several disruptive innovations on LISTERINE®
  • Continue to strengthen the Innovation Pipeline (2019-2022) by developing and validating new ideas, and and supporting development of innovation initiatives through major milestones.
  • Support Upstream Innovation, w/ solid understanding of brand strategy, consumer needs and insights.
  • Participate in relevant global governance meetings w/ understanding of the global strategy and how to adapt for each Region  
  • Have close partnership with Regional Commercial Leaders and gain consumer insight / market intimacy.
  • Serve as GFO marketing co-lead on key projects to commercialize disruptive new product innovation, including: 
    • Partner with GSI and Consumer Sciences to ensure appropriate learning plan and integrate learning into the project
    • Partner with Global Packaging and J&J Design to lead creation of breakthrough packaging and graphics, and create toolkits to rollout to Regions 
    • Partner w/ global supply chain / PMO to shepherd projects through the governance process
    • Partner with Global and Regional Regulatory, Medical and Claims Center of Excellence to ensure appropriate regulatory pathway and claims substantiation
    • Support development of multi-generational plans to turn disruptive innovations into new platforms
    • Maintain quality and compliance through timely GMP training, strict compliance with procedures, exercising the highest integrity, timely reporting deviations noted in the workplace and embracing employee involvement and commitment to doing the right job the first time
    • Promote an environment of employee involvement in the workplace.

  • BA/BS in Marketing or a related business field is required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of business experience is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of progressive marketing experience or a combination of sales and marketing experience is required.
  • CPG marketing or healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Candidates must have good communication and influencing skills, be able to work in a team environment, and be customer/market oriented.
  • Ability to work within and lead a cross functional team required. 
  • Strong business analytics, strategic thinking, consumer insights development, understanding of core marketing levers and advertising experience are required.
  • Must possess demonstrated leadership and delivery of consistently strong results.
  • Position requires up to 10% international travel.
