The Associate Director is responsible for developing and implementing Janssen Oncology Medical Affairs strategies that support impactful presence at major external scientific meetings.  This includes, but is not limited to, streamlined key opinion leader interactions that inform research direction for the Janssen Oncology asset portfolio, coordination of research booth and support staff, coverage of scientific meeting content and summarizing for internal stakeholders, and coordination of voice of customer medical insights.  This role will require strong partnerships with Medical Affairs colleagues [e.g. Medical Directors, Therapeutic Area Leads, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) teams, etc.], in addition to cross-functional partners (e.g. Commercial, R&D, Global Medical Affairs, etc.), external key opinion leaders, and external corporate partners if applicable.  The Associate Director is responsible for providing oversight of all scientific congress activities in accordance with current regulatory and health care compliance guidelines.
 
  • Development and implementation of scientific meeting strategies that inform the research platforms of the Janssen Oncology portfolio.
  • Proactive coordination and communication  with internal partners in strategy and tactic development by leveraging knowledge base of the audiences and content of respective scientific  meetings; key scientific meetings include American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Society of Hematology (ASH), ASCO – Genitourinary Symposium, American Urology Association, American Association of Cancer Research (AACR).
  • Establish and communicate role clarity of Janssen Oncology Medical Affairs attendees.
  • Implement effective KOL engagement strategies to identify meeting objectives and optimal participation of Janssen Oncology attendees and external stakeholders (e.g. KOL engagements may number >200-300 over the course of a scientific meeting).
  • Coordinate research booth presentation content and approvals in addition to booth support staff and education in alignment with Janssen policies and the policies of the respective scientific meeting.
  • Synthesize data being presented at meetings into impactful communications for Senior Management, Commercial and Medical Affairs organization.
  • Develop summaries of collective learnings (e.g. KOL engagement, voice of customer, etc.) for dissemination to internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to ensure external stakeholder requests are addressed in a timely and productive manner.
  • The Associate Director must work closely with multiple functions including Medical Directors, MSLs, Medical Communications, Global Medical Affairs, R&D, Commercial, Medical Education, Promotional Review Committee, Alliance Management, HCC.
  • Participate in internal meetings to understand the Janssen Oncology marketed and pipeline assets strategies.
  • Ensures effective and efficient collection and distribution of meeting relevant insights.


Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in science-related area required with minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry, clinical setting, academic setting, or research setting OR advanced doctorate degree in science-related area with minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical industry, clinical setting, academic setting, or research setting.
  • Medical Affairs experience highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to liaise with external key medical opinion leaders preferred.
  • Oncology experience required.
  • Requires travel of approx. 50% (including presence at scientific meetings, overnight travel as needed).
  • Horsham, PA location preferred.
