POSITION SUMMARY:

 

 As a life and annuity Associate Product Manager for TIAA’s Life Insurance business (TC Life) you will assist the product management team in a wide variety of support roles. The primary role of the position will be to support the product team in answering customer inquiries on products for new production as well as inforce product questions.  The position will also support product development and implementation efforts of the TIAA Life division when products are introduced or modified.    

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 

  • As a subject matter expert on the firm’s life insurance and retail annuity products, assist product managers in supporting sales and inforce management including answering product related questions from internal and external distribution, operations, and other functional business partners
  • Develop and maintain various product calculation worksheets used in testing and validating administration and illustration software provided by outside vendors
  • Report and analyze in force block of business data as it relates to conserving contracts, including persistency and lapse rates, loan and surrender rates, and contract replacement activity
  • Monitor calculation and presentation and ensure the development of life insurance and annuity  illustrations are accurate and up-to-date
  • Wide variety of activities in supporting the variable insurance and annuity products related to separate account calculations and filings
  • Act as a liaison between the product group and other internal departments and 3rd party vendors to execute projects and new product rollouts
  • Support the TIAA Life product and tax teams as needed in validating 1099, 7702, and 7702A calculations and general support on product tax issues.
  • Gather competitive life insurance and product intelligence and provide analysis to support product development and management
  • Provide other assistance as required to support product sales goals

 



QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree Required
  • Two or more years of working with annuity or life insurance products
  • 2+ years of Microsoft Excel which includes Macros and VBA programming
Desired Qualifications:
  • Insurance designation such as Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) or Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) or completion of 2-5 Actuarial Exams Prior experience working with annuity or life insurance illustrations
  • Knowledge of actuarial principles in design of insurance and annuity products
  • Prior experience conducting user acceptance testing for software systems preferred
  • Ability to manage and interpret product data
