Description



  • Perform tape mount requests in the Tape Library

  • Perform daily library maintenance duties including tape filing, pulling scratch tapes, tracking, reporting problem tapes, and insuring sufficient scratch tapes are available for batch processing

  • Audit and inventory in-house tapes per established procedures

  • Provide management with monthly status reports on all current projects

  • Maintain the Tape Management System (TMS) and runs report jobs when necessary, and file reports per established procedures

  • Manage all activity to Visa Service Levels for timely and accurate tape processing

  • Maintain tape pools and inventory for 100% of the tapes in the library

  • Manage all midrange platform tape related processes

  • Identify, escalate, and resolve all tape library or tape hardware problems

  • Tape Operations receives equipment for other areas. Ensure equipment deliveries are complete and Asset Management / Contact person are notified

  • Ensure the tape hardware is operating efficiently

  • Identify, escalate, document, and manage problems with the tape sub-systems

  • Implement Tape hardware configuration changes

  • Utilize the Visa change management systems to schedule tape operations activities and track problems to resolution

  • Vendor management of tape hardware support vendors and tape library contracted staff

  • Life Cycle Management of Storage Media - responsible for the acceptance, logging and destruction of storage media in the data center

  • Travel and other duties may be assigned, when appropriate, to fulfill job requirements and support key activities


Qualifications



  • Must have 2-5 years in a data processing Tape Operations environment

  • Must have ability to work with little or no supervision

  • Must use MVS, VM, TSO, JES commands, HSC commands

  • Must have a peripheral understanding of TMS processes, EXLM strategies, and basic JCL functional coding

  • Must have good PC skills

  • Must have ability to issue UNIX structured commands in order to query UNIX system

  • Demonstrate the ability to pull and/or file a minimum of 250 tapes per hour and lift in excess of 30 pounds

  • Must be available for on call emergency support and off-shift overtime hours as necessary
