As the Automation Engineer you will be required to translate research into novel surgical products and provide solutions that improve the lives of patients and surgeons. This position requires the incumbent to lead cross functional teams and execute continuous process improvement project, leverage state of the art technologies across discipline and industries. This person will build and evaluate prototypes in physical experiments and computer simulations. S/he will communicate your results to management as well as internal and external customers. This individual will provide production and implementation of automation support for the DePuy Synthes Warsaw Site.

As an active member of the start-up team for new automates lines. This person will work with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure value add sustainable support model in place for automated lines. This individual will oversee coordination of all Automation support activities for new automated lines. S/he will manage the Automation activities of the lines, covering change control, optimization and other life cycle management activities. This person will work with all relevant project teams to deliver project on time and on budget with required quality level. S/he will ensure compliance with DePuy Synthes procedures, cGMP, recognized quality standards, and regulatory expectation. Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental requirements are fulfilled. Influence innovative qualification methodologies to apply appropriate statistical and validation techniques based on failure model and overall risk. Develop strategic collaborations across functions, business units, and geographic boundaries to achieve effective outcomes over the long-term. Provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities.

This person is responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing processes required to assure on-time and cost effective delivery of products, reduction in scrap, and manufacturing costs. S/he evaluates and implements processes and programs to improve product quality, reduce cost, and improve employee safety. All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and health & Safety effects of the work that they perform. The role will collaborate with EH&S, Quality, Operations, Planning, An R&D functions and be responsible for ensuring capable and robust processes.


  • ·         Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • ·         Minimum of 4 years’ experience is required
  • ·         A focused BioE, ME, EE, Computer Science, Physics or related degree is preferred
  • ·         Experience researching, specifying, and developing differentiated technical solutions that meet market and user needs is required
  • ·         Experience with process automation, process quality for new product introduction, process development, documentation development and review within a CGMP regulated environment is required
  • ·         At least 1 year of PLC Programming is required
  • ·         Experience leading in the delivery of automation projects is required
  • ·         Experience with Qualification in Automation, IT Systems, Electronic or Mechtronic development is required
  • ·         Experience working in a highly regulated environment is preferred
  • ·         Experience leading projects or sub-projects in high power teams is preferred
  • ·         Experience resourcing, planning, tracking, and executing on technical projects is preferred
  • ·         The ability to strongly partner and influence without direct line authority is required
  • ·         This position is based in Warsaw, IN and may require up to 20% travel
