Reports directly to the Sr. Vice President of Personal Lines Legal. Leads a team of attorneys and paralegals that provide legal counsel to the P&C Personal Lines Product Organization, Private Client, and associated support teams for all P&C Companies. Provides direct support to Personal Lines clients, including senior leadership, project management, as well as staff and field teams, with respect to all aspects of product, pricing, and underwriting operations for all personal lines of business (auto, property, umbrella, dwelling fire, powersports, inland marine, etc.). Provides high level of subject matter expertise with respect to personal lines product development, ratemaking methodology, process and procedure implementation, policy system maintenance and enhancement, as well as industry trends. Reviews business strategies to provide legal input and assists management in reaching their business objectives, while mitigating potential legal risk.
+ Drives execution of the Personal Lines Product team responsible for providing legal counsel to P&C Personal Lines Product and Support teams, including the identification, analysis, and mitigation of potential risks impacting P&C Personal Lines product operations, to include regulatory compliance and investigations, form and rate filing approval, vendor negotiation/management, and litigation risk management. Leads and works directly on or provides subject matter expertise on numerous issues, including significant, high-risk, highly sensitive or complex legal matters such as Personal Lines Transformation.
+ Guides and reviews opinions and recommendations prepared by staff. Assists staff attorneys and paralegals in researching, evaluating, and presenting solutions/options to assist business leadership at all levels in reaching their business objectives while minimizing potential legal exposure. Responsible for ensuring timely assessment and responses on all legal and regulatory matters pending with state regulatory agencies concerning various product and credit related legal/regulatory matters.
+ Leads significant or complex projects requiring executive oversight to facilitate effective coordination and collaboration of necessary input from multiple legal teams, thereby ensuring a unified position and approach across the P&C Legal Team. Also, provides and coordinates support on attorney general, market conduct and other investigations and examinations implicating personal lines product operations.
+ Performs management and administration responsibilities including performance reviews, coaching and feedback, salary reviews and administration. Establishes strategic direction through selling the vision and leading change through a highly diverse talented team.
Typical Skills and Experiences
Education/Certification/Licenses: Juris Doctor from accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Ohio or has corporate status in Ohio. 10-15 years of relevant legal experience and/or property and casualty insurance experience, preferably focused on regulatory and contracting work.
Experience/Skills: Excellent legal, verbal and written communications skills for contact with all levels of management and clients. Analytical ability to interpret statutes, regulations, insurance policies and other contracts. Decision-making ability to set work priorities and make recommendations. Ability to lead cross-functional projects. Ability to lead, initiate, organize and coordinates complex project and/or cases. Must be able to work in a collaborative environment.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
