The Benefits Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations for the entire suite of company benefits (including, but not limited to Health & Welfare, Insurances, Retirement and other ancillary benefits). The Benefits Manager would work closely with the department head to implement new strategies and administer the existing policies. The role would also involve assisting with vendor management and employee communications.

Key Responsibilities:
Manages the administration of all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, disability, and life insurance, workers compensation, employee assistance, retirement, and other plans

Coordinates the transfer of data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors, and consultants, vendors, auditors and consultants for services premiums, and plan administration

Oversees the operational aspects of the open enrollment process
Plays integral part in setting strategy for the benefit programs
Assists in developing communication and education materials in the area of all benefit plans.
Monitor new trends in benefits and works with the department head to provide relevant updates/recommendations to the management team
Oversees the preparation and submission of the government-mandated reports and audits benefit plans for compliance with federal and state regulations (including management of the external vendors)
Recommends process improvements to ensure they are as efficient and automated as possible
Collaborates and coordinates with internal resources (such as HRIS, payroll and financial departments

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, Finance or a related field;
  • 7+ years progressive experience in benefits administration and managing benefits programs in a multi-site or global environment is highly desirable
  • Strong project management, organization, prioritization and communication skills
  • Self-starter with strict attention to detail and experience in managing the full life cycle of a project, from inception to completion
  • Interpersonal skills and effective interaction with others both internally and with external vendors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects concurrently with extreme accuracy and adjust to changing priorities with minimal supervision. Must be able to take initiative and work with ambiguity
  • Ability to handle sensitive, problematic, confidential situations with poise, tact, diplomacy and with the appropriate discretion
  • Strong systems and PC skills, prior HRIS experience a plus
