Major responsibilities as a Bookkeeper - Conduct and manage the general ledger - Develop a well-organized system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; define bookkeeping policies and procedures - Examine payments received and record deposits - Settle accounts by reconciling entries - Look after archived records by categorizing documents - Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information - Oversee accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
