Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary Global Breeding Support Team. In this role, the Breeding Support Specialist will primarily be responsible for providing high-level technical support to our Global Breeding Scientists, Breeders, and other research staff, as well as across-crop support for internally developed applications. Primary focus will be Latin America North.

This Breeding Support Specialist will have the opportunity to support Global Breeding by launching, implementing, training, promoting, and supporting current and new hardware and software technologies. The Specialist will also gather feedback from customers and develop improved workflows to support process improvement including the development and distribution of standard operating procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading-edge technology and talented cross-functional teams that are driving to deliver the very best crop genetics around the globe.  Work location is negotiable.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support regarding Breeding IT applications
  • Launch and promote new and existing software applications to breeding teams globally with primary focus on Latin America North
  • Conduct trainings and instruct users on tools developed to support breeding workflows
  • Implement best practices globally and initiate process change where needed
  • Interact with scientists, breeders, and staff on project-related needs
  • Participate in document creation and process reviews for job-related activities
  • Research new technologies with potential to enhance or replace current IT systems
  • Work with other Monsanto functions to learn about cross-functional IT tools and hardware
  • Interface with all breeding row-crop functions to support and share the IT implementation strategy
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and requirements
Required Skills/Experience:
  • BS degree in IT, biological, agricultural science, or related field
  • Computer proficiency in learning applications and ability to train other users
  • Capacity to work with cross-functional teams, develop broad networks, and gain advocacy with others
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally, including international travel
  • Documented individual leadership and excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to implement change
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-cultural global support team
  • Proficient verbal and written communication
  • Write and speak fluently in English

Desired Skills/Experience:
  • MS degree with understanding of IT, plant breeding, and process innovation
  • Three years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of current breeding IT tools
  • Familiarity with plant breeding research methodologies and workflows
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proficiency in language(s) other than English such as Spanish
