Job Summary

Walgreens is looking for a Business Architect to join one of the largest initiatives in our company, Pharmacy Renewal. The Walgreens Pharmacy Renewal efforts seek to design and build the largest, most advanced pharmacy infrastructure in the world from the ground up. Empowered to operate as an innovation center, this effort represents one of Walgreens most important programs at both global and local levels. US, UK and Italy based teams will be leveraging the most advanced and exciting technologies to build on Walgreens strategic vision to service the 13,100 plus pharmacy-led, health and wellbeing retails stores Worldwide.

To be success in this Business Architect role, an individual will need to possess the following attributes:
  • At least ten years of experience in strategic consulting, business transformation, and/or business process analysis
  • Working knowledge of global business operations, practices and issues
  • Experience working with leading technology
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies/approaches (including large-scale, enterprise agile implementation)
  • Working knowledge of some industry methods including Balanced Scorecards, TOGAF, BPMN, Six Sigma, Lean, ITIL, ITSM, DAMA, etc.
  • Change management background and experience

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner and engage with business leaders to understand and articulate business vision and strategy to ensure delivery of corporate outcomes. Serves as a consultant to management on major matters pertaining to Rx Renewal policies, plans and objectives.
  • Transform the business by identifying financial and strategic business value drivers and then delivering the aligned business and operating models that close critical capability gaps that most impact those value drivers.
  • Inform overall strategic execution by identifying capabilities needed across people, process, information and technology in order to build/improve products, services and solutions.
  • Drive alignment of new products, services, solutions partnerships, and organizational capabilities to strategic goals and objectives.
  • Work across key parts of the enterprise to drive implementation of supporting organizational models, processes, information needs, and enabling technology.
  • Build specific strategy execution plans that result in multi-year and short term, flexible roadmaps, adaptable to changing business needs.
  • Enable improved scenario planning, sequencing, dependency management, risk management, and strategic investment.
  • Ensure new technology platforms and systems meet strategic objectives to best enable end users, customers and partners.
  • Drive measurable business impacts for the enterprise including, but not limited to, increasing customer/partner satisfaction, improving customer acquisition and retention, increasing employee satisfaction, and reducing costs.
  • Collaborate and align with product managers and system engineers around prioritization of value drivers and supporting solutions.
  • Foster a climate that supports relationship building and collaboration at all levels throughout WBA, partnering across business units and divisions to improve coordination, alignment, and adoption of best practices.
  • Apply a structured business architectural approach and methodology for driving and enabling transformation for the business.
  • Sponsor and support the development of internal process competence and business process ownership.
  • Provide directions to and coach Business Analysts working on complex transformation initiatives or working on building out capability requirements for particularly complex functions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least seven years of experience in strategic consulting, business transformation, and/or business process analysis, OR High School Diploma/GED and at least ten years of experience.
  • At least five years of experience in a principal or key business architecture role.
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse industries and with senior level executives/leaders in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization, including written and verbal communications and visualizations.
  • Subject matter expertise in process modeling, re-engineering and system integration using a variety of tools and techniques including Lean Six Sigma, BPMN, etc.
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of the organization with the ability to influence others to move towards consensus.
  • Strong analytical, design and documentation skills.
  • Ability to lead a diverse, cross-functional team.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment, aligning multiple stakeholders to an aligned solution and new way of working.
  • At least 2 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.
  • At least 3 years of experience of direct leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (nationally and/or internationally).
