Position Summary:The Director – Pharmacy Planning and Analytics is a key leadership position within CVS Health’s Managed Care Department, providing business support to the executive management team. The position requires the rare combination of technical analytical expertise and keen business acumen. Success in this role requires this leader to be accountable, work with a sense of urgency, possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills, effectively communicate at all levels of the organization and have passion for developing and managing high-performing teams.
Key areas of responsibility include:
o Lead the development of complex analytics and reporting suites that guide our company’s understanding of the pharmacy business, including forecast recommendations, strategic analysis and continuous process improvement. Present findings directly to senior management.
o Drive insight into pharmacy sales and margin trends, understanding payer/market level dynamics, assessing internal initiatives, tracking m&a activity and coordinating across many functional areas (including Finance, Rx Operations, Rx Merchandising, Government Affairs, and Enterprise Strategy/Product Development Teams) to reach a consensus on the viability of short and long term Enterprise financial targets.
o Develop the budget and forecast of revenue generated through CVS’ third party payer relationships within the retail and long term care divisions, totaling over $60B annually.
o Understand how changes in the health care landscape will influence long term payer and consumer behavior, both within the commercial and public sector
o Develop deep understanding of the pricing strategies and product dynamics (e.g. brand/generic, specialty, sourcing limitations, days supply, government pricing programs, etc.) that will influence future profitability.
o Provide analytical support to the Payer Relations field management team, including proforma analysis and contract compliance updates. Regularly interact directly with external third party analytics groups to ensure alignment on data and follow up on outstanding reconciling items.
o Actively collaborate with Enterprise Analytics to develop and maintain a robust analytical tool set that will drive a deeper understanding of industry dynamics and provide clear insight into how our integrated business model can drive value for our payers and their members.
o Manage and motivate a staff of professional analysts that support division and enterprise wide goals.
Required Qualifications: - Minimum of 8 years experience managing financial budgets and forecasting and advanced data analysis
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience developing, coaching and training of staff
Preferred Qualifications: - Healthcare Industry experience prerferred
- Advanced knowledge of Managed Healthcare industry preferred
- Outstanding strategic thinking, analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable recommendations
- Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact
- Results driven, with a desire to work in a fast paced environment that values collaboration, integrity and accountability
- Advanced PowerPoint, Excel and Access skills
- MBA or MS in Business Analytics or related subject strongly preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related subject required.
