Business Process Improvement

The Business Process Improvement Team operates as a shared service resource to support the
organization in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities to enable optimal
services to be delivered to our customers.
The specialist will be required to champion and deploy business and process improvement
methodologies and toolsets across the Unit, build capability through knowledge sharing and coaching;
build the Business Process Improvement Team's credibility by engaging effectively with stakeholders,
deploying appropriate methodologies and toolsets and create and maintain a reputation as the
internal consultant of choice by senior management for any problem solving or design initiatives.

1. Minimum 5 years' experience using leading methodologies and processes. (eg Lean/Six Sigma, PMP, Prince 2, TQM, ISO or similar)
2. Formal Business Improvement, Project Management or Business methodology accreditation e.g., Lean/Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, PMP or Prince2, etc.

Key functions include:

Lead process improvement initiatives across Council Units
Present findings and recommendations with confidence and communicating these to sponsors
and key stakeholders
Challenge stakeholders to maximize opportunities from process improvement initiatives
Promote and develop a continuous improvement culture across the business
Champion the need and benefit by utilizing a structured approach to business process
Coach and support project team members in use of tools and methodologies
Document and monitor business processes, business rules, metrics and standard operating
procedures as a result of improvement initiatives.
Deliver process improvement training to staff
Facilitate and provide specialist process improvement advice to business units via targeted
workshops to identify and resolve specific issues that are critically impacting business outcomes
and require urgent resolution

Identify process improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies
Proactively identify, scope and prepare business cases for opportunities to
improve processes in conjunction with process owners/managers
Monitor, develop metrics and report business process performance against
accepted standards and KPI's (Lean and Six Sigma)
Identify benefits realization targets and ensure these are achieved on each
Develop and support data capture and data management processes for
core systems to support the delivery of identified projects
Maintain weekly/monthly status reports to key stakeholders tracking the
status of the improvement project
Manage business process improvement projects to an agreed project plan.
Provide professional business process improvement expertise and support
to Units by being the subject matter expert with regard to Lean and Six
Sigma techniques
Ensure that customers (both internal and external) receive advice that
achieves the best possible business process improvement outcomes.
Act as an advocate for the customers business in resolving business
process issues.
Act consistently and fairly with shared services customers, focusing on
resolving issues and performing with a customer focused attitude.
Promote the Business Process Improvement Team's role as a shared
service provider to the businesses of Council.
