Job Description

Wells Fargo Merchant Services is looking for a seasoned Business Analyst to focus on requirement elicitation, analysis, and documentation. This position will require working across business lines to solve complex issues and help set the strategy to build future features and benefits in our product continuum. Wells Fargo Merchant Services specializes in providing solutions such as credit card, debit card, check guarantee and gift cards to businesses of all sizes. The Business Analyst is responsible for managing the business analysis for our internal System Application utilized by sales for boarding of new Merchants and is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting and communicating business requirements for project initiatives. The BA authors key project requirement artifacts which include Project Definition Documents, Use Cases, Business Rules, User Interface Specifications used during Inception , Elaboration and Construction phases for project scoping and Software Requirements Specifications which detail the business, functional and non-functional requirements. The Business Analyst also manages the requirements repository, provide direction and/or guidance to less experience staff and ensures that design addresses stated business requirements. Will act as internal consultant within technology and business groups by using quality tools and process definition/improvement to re-engineer technical processes for greater efficiencies. The team is based in West Des Moines and partners closely with teams from California and Maryland, project/product management resources and technical teams.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Business requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation
- Translate complex business needs into business requirements
- Partnering closely with technical teams to ensure that the requirements development and management processes meets their needs, helps streamline their work and controls risk in order for us to deliver high quality solutions which deliver on the business objectives
- Partnering with stakeholders and other lines of businesses to ensure requirements are represented and integrated
- Evaluating ways to improve requirements gathering process
- Conduct requirement sessions with stake holders to gather requirements
- Participate in requirements review sessions to resolve Development and QA ambiguities
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on web based boarding application
- Document change controls
- Review Test Cases, Test Plans, Test Scripts and perform limited User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

In order to be successful, candidates will need experience authoring requirements for complex products and projects, ranging from concepts in ideation to platform features already in production. Candidate should excel in verbal and written communications. Candidates will also need a highly-developed capacity to work with and influence diverse functional areas, both within the Wells Fargo Merchant Services group and other lines of business when necessary. In addition, candidates should have experience with requirements development and ideally have an understanding of the payments industry.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business systems analysis experience, business systems design experience, or a combination of both

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Business analysis exposure; preferably within a Wells Fargo operational group
  • Management experience in a large corporate, multi-line business organization
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • SQL experience
  • Exposure to Wells Fargo TFS (Team Foundation Server)
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies: used in waterfall or Agile development projects
  • MS Visual Studio experience
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
