Description
The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a Chemical Manufacturing Pilot Plant Operator in Marlborough, MA. The Chemical Operator performs manufacturing batch processing tasks as specified in written procedures to support the production, packaging, and handling of materials.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe working environment and participate in all required safety programs, training, and activities.
  • Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operate and field check process equipment. Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems if required.
  • Receive direction from area leads/supervisor and complete assigned tasks.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have chemical processing experience, experience working with chemicals in an industrial environment is required.
  • Must be able to work all scheduled days of the shift. The shift is 6 PM to 6 AM, Monday through Wednesday and 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM on Thursday.
  • On-Call opportunities may be required, must be willing/able to reside within 70 miles of the facility.
  • Must be able to work in a plant environment with exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemical and other elements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
  • Able to work within an empowered team environment.
  • Willing to adhere to all safety standards. Strong understanding and commitment to their own and the safety of others.
  • Must be able to meet light to moderate physical effort as required to include, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Lifting required occasionally of up to 40 pounds.
    • Bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting required on a daily basis.
    • Ability to occasionally work at table level and/or overhead level as necessary.
    • Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - including respirator.
    • Required to work in a RESTRICTED Electrical Classified Area for use of flammable and combustible materials.
    • Routinely operate fork lift and other lift-assist devices as needed.
    • Complete routine and repetitive activities such as labeling, forming and filling boxes, moving materials and equipment
    • Routinely operate valves, switches, and hand tools of various size and torque.
    • Able to bend and/or stoop during the production processes and must be able to travel up and down stairs as needed.
    • Ability to occasionally work at table level and/or overhead level as necessary.
  • Must have current, valid driver's license.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fork Truck, Power materials handling equipment operation experience is preferred.
  • Chemical Process Technology certification and/or degree, or Four (4) or more years of military training/experience in related field, is preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of chemical processing experience is preferred.


Education:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
