The Cardiovascular & Specialty Solutions (CSS) Group, part of the Medical Devices sector within Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Chemist I aligned to Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), located in Irvine, CA.

Conducts exploratory research to further existing knowledge, to produce new knowledge and add to the development of products for sterilization and disinfection of medical devices. Performs chemical and biological analyses of technologies and products under development to demonstrate the ability of those products and prototypes to meet functional requirements. Uses analytical techniques and evaluation criteria for measuring biochemical activity. Exercises judgment generally within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Practices safe and environmentally sound laboratory techniques adhering to regulatory, local government and safety guidelines. Directs experiments through the development of methodologies. Communicates in a clear and concise manner, through verbal and written reports, the results of assigned tasks. Documents and maintains complete records and checklists for future reference. Assists senior staff in the preparation of technical reports and manuscripts.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline and a minimum of two years of related experience is required.
  • Professional experience in sterilization technologies and biological indicators is preferred. 
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrate the ability to effectively function in a cross-functional team environment. 
  • Strong, GDP-compliant documentation skills required
  • Strong understanding of compliance with applicable laboratory and safety procedures is preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of QSR, FDA / ISO guidelines is preferred.
  • This position is located in Irvine, CA and will require up to 10% domestic travel.
