Role Summary:

Deep technical expert who is responsible for the engineering solutions within the Cloud Services organization. May interact with systems analysts to support execution of technical projects and/or provide work direction to more junior engineers to update and maintain engineering solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Cloud Developer is responsible for developing, and delivering flexible, and reusable solutions to assist and accelerate application development, migration and transformation to the public cloud. These solutions can include (but are not limited to), reusable components, application programming interfaces, platform scaffolding, data structures, and/or orchestration recipes developed to leverage services and platforms in the public cloud. The ideal candidate will also evangelize and share cloud development best practices with GE application and development teams.

+ Develop and implement solid, scalable and flexible software solutions for business and application teams migrating, transforming, and/or developing applications in the public cloud.

+ Evaluate detailed technical application designs and serves as a subject matter expert for GE development teams in optimizing applications to take advantage of public cloud services.

+ Develop reusable solutions, to assist and accelerate business teams migrating, transforming, or creating applications for the public cloud.

+ Share, evangelize, and practice cloud development best practices and culture with business application and development teams.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or 2+ years experience in developing, implementing and maintaining large scale Cloud Service technologies and processes

+ Two or more years of hands-on experience developing solutions and/or implementing applications, services, or environments on one or more public cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure preferred).

Eligibility Requirements

+ Demonstrated experience and expertise developing software, scripts, and or services for the cloud in at least one of the following: Ruby, Python, PHP, Go, Perl, Scala or similar language.

Desired Characteristics:

+ Amazon Web Services - Certified Developer or DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure - Developing and Designing Azure Applications, or similar cloud certification

+ Hands on experience designing and implementing solutions leveraging multiple services within public cloud providers via provider and/or cross platform APIs.

+ Demonstrated Hands On Experience Developing Solutions with Cloud Orchestration Tools (Chef, Puppet, CFEngine, etc.) - Chef Certification a plus.

+ Strong Knowledge of IP Networking including VPC's, VPN's, VRF, DNS, Load-balancing, and Firewalls.

+ Demonstrated scripting experience (Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, Powershell, etc.)

+ Thought leader, and/or certification in modern IT/developer operations.

+ Demonstrated experience trading off between RDBMS and NoSQL.

+ Demonstrated Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle and Associated Tools

+ Proven ability to lead change across large platforms / functional areas using innovative technology solutions

+ Demonstrated experience preparing and migrating applications to public cloud services.

+ Demonstrated customer focus - evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships; creates processes with customer viewpoint; partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives

+ Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills - communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve; creates actionable strategies and operational plans

+ Change oriented - actively generates process improvements; champions and drives change initiatives; confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly\#DTR
