Cognos Developer/Report Writer - DC
This position is responsible for the Cognos (CER) development environment. The report writer is responsible for the design, development, testing and a maintenance of complex corporate reports used to analyze financial data and other key metrics to meet the needs of the organization. Other tasks may Include: monitoring daily jobs and running month end processes. Work closely with all Information Solutions and Services (ISS) to ensure that all required data is readily available and accurate in the development framework. Assist with testing and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system upgrades and enhancements.
Determines methods and procedures to produce or support the production of standard, custom and dashboard reports utilizing data warehouse and transactional systems.
Perform data analysis to support evaluation of system defects or to develop requirements for new functionality; triage and troubleshoot complex user-reported system defects; assist in various system trouble shooting and balancing and correction efforts including analysis, verification and validation of issues and fixes.
Work as a technical support and liaison to designated IT personnel to provide testing, support and feedback on enhancement requests and regular updates/releases; adhere to release schedules.
Provide analytical support for critical corporate initiatives including business function support for system migrations and consolidations, significant business area process improvement projects and complex product installations.
Demonstrate a high level of subject matter expertise in functional area to bridge business requirements and IT solutions; provide technical direction and ensure compliance with best practice solutions.
Maintains the web-based reporting infrastructure while adhering to internal standards and change management practices.
Utilizes advanced analytical skills, provide comprehensive assessments to management that interpret patterns and trends, and determine overall data quality.
Performs business requirements gathering and analysis and clearly communicates findings to various stakeholders.
Participate in thorough testing and validation efforts ensuring timely and accurate results in a team environment.
Provides data manipulation and reporting assistance to other departments as needed.
Development of audit reports in support of data management integrity.
Designs, creates, and maintains application and business process related documentation.
Provides appropriate service, support, and advice to end users regarding technical and reporting issues.
Provides advice and guidance to business owners and end users concerning the capabilities and functions of the reporting systems.
