We’re looking for a creative, digital communications expert who is adept at listening and partnering with leaders and colleagues to develop, manage, and execute internal communications that are unique, interactive and engaging. This person will be the communication business partner to the organizations driving MetLife’s workplace transformation, supporting both the physical and virtual office environments.

 

The Communications Consultant understands that to reach today’s information-saturated audiences, content has to be relevant, candid, concise, and compelling. The successful candidate will be a natural and dynamic storyteller, adept at understanding and using digital technologies.

 

This role will leverage internal social, video, blogs, live events and more to engage employees and drive adoption of our global internal collaboration platforms. A team player, this person will be a savvy and confident communicator adept at using internal social media. This person will have their ear-to-the-ground and continuously monitor employee feedback to gain insights and identify trends and opportunities. This person will brainstorm and pitch ideas with colleagues and business leaders on appropriate media, communication tactics, and key messages to best reach target audiences.

 

Communications will be strategic and tactical – creating awareness, excitement, and a clear understanding of new technology and ways employees can connect and collaborate. Deliverables will include a range of training and education tools, live webinars, news articles, short videos, editorials, Q&As, web content, managing a website build, infographics, and visually engaging emails.

 

 

High-Level responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy across multiple internal channels that educates, provides clarity and drives adoption of internal collaboration platforms globally (e.g., SharePoint, community sites, Yammer, internal social, video on-demand, live event streaming, WebEx, video conferencing, file collaboration, etc.).
  • Proactively lead and execute communication projects and campaigns that align with, articulate and support the company's key messages and influence a positive culture, and engaged and motivated employee base.
  • Internal social listening to better understand, drive and ignite trending topics.
  • Produce live webinars and on-demand training that simplifies how and when to use technology and tools.
  • Monitor communication platforms to ensure legal and compliance requirements, remediate when needed (Actiance, Yammer, All Company and Social)
  • Lead communications for MetLife’s new and renovated physical office environments.
  • Drive new approaches to deliver communications in more creative, efficient, and effective ways by challenging processes and recommending new approaches.
  • Partner with leaders and subject matter experts around the globe to develop content that is fun, interactive, and educational.
  • Source content and stories from MetLife colleagues around the world. Research topics, interview subjects, write copy and collect visuals needed to tell the story well, aligning with key strategic messages.
  • Work effectively through shared processes with others at all levels within the organization. 
  • Develop and manage an online channel community – integrating social, video and other media.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing of new technology and/or enhancements

 

Supervisory and Relationship Management Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to lead and motivate project team members who are not direct reports.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • Must be proficient with digital technology and social.
  • Relevant business experience, including written and multimedia content.
  • Experience with leading training and creating training/video material
  • Superior project and time management skills on multiple mediums/channels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint 0365 team sites and Yammer
  • Experience with internal social/community management
  • Proven relationship management skills.
  • Proven blended PR and social media skills.
  • Must have the ability to understand cultural nuances.
  • Experience in technology, digital, and/or creative-related industries, experience producing content for a variety of emerging digital platforms, understanding of UX and UI fundamentals.
  • The successful candidate will be recognized as an excellent communicator, well respected by his/her peers, and have a strong point of view and vision.
