Biology Co-Op. Janssen is the name given
to Johnson & Johnson’s global group of pharmaceutical companies. These companies market both conventional and
biotech products in a broad range of therapeutic areas.
Co-Op is offered by the Computational Sciences group within the Discovery
Sciences division of Janssen R&D. The
& Systems Biology Group (CSB) which is a dynamic program that brings
together a team of researchers with expertise in bioinformatics, computational
science/mathematics, physical/natural sciences, and engineering to apply their
expertise to areas of biomedical and pharmaceutical research in close collaboration
with other research programs within Janssen. The Co-Op Program is
focused on providing graduate students with practical industrial computational
and scientific experience.
& Systems Biology Co-Op will:
- Perform Omics
and NGS data analysis in both Windows and Unix environments (workstations,
supercomputing center and AWS cloud)
- Develop workflows and
integrative analysis solutions around epigenetics data types such as DNA
Methylation and ChIP-Seq
- Analyze NGS data from normal and diseased
human samples; perform in-depth analysis of RNA-Seq datasets such as GTEx and
candidates must be enrolled in the Professional Science Master’s Program in
Bioinformatics at Temple University and have proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as R, Perl and Python.
must be available to work full-time (up to 40 hours/week).
must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require
sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the
leadership is required.
must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
with at least a 3.0 GPA are desired.
