This position is for a compute infrastructure hardware engineering position to join the Data Center Infrastructure Engineering (DCIE) team.
The successful candidate will be responsible in maintaining and troubleshooting eBay marketplace hardware, firmware, operating systems, drivers, API, and configuration issues, including performance, error, scripts, automation, data path, data store, environmental, and transactions.Will work with server and peripheral hardware OEM and ODM vendors where needed to drive resolution of local and large scale (i.e. fleet wide) server issues on production and pre-production systems including but not limited to, SEL log errors, BMC stability issues, thermal issues, burn-in testing errors, hardware related performance degradation issues, driver and firmware compatibility issues and more.
— Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
—Establishes systems guidelines and requirements for the installation and management of the bare metal servers in eBay’s data centers.
—Ensures acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
—Help coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations.
— Help develop and implement hardware and engineering maintenance and administration workflows and procedures.
— Help Develop and implement lower level hardware functional requirements
— Help in creating hardware requirements traceability from high-level requirements to low level requirements and vice versa.
— Develop and maintain software code and scripts that interface with hardware OS and firmware
—Troubleshoot, triage, isolate, restore, repair hardware firmware, driver, and OS issues.
— Develop function appropriate automation
— Help writing detailed hardware verification plans and protocols at the module level
— Help develop and implement hardware monitoring framework
— Quick response to all customer-impacting incidents
— In-depth troubleshooting and resolution of customer incidents
— Collaborate with Cloud Operations and HE R&D to implement permanent problem resolution
— Evaluate and approve new hardware SKU releases prior to production deployment
— Participate in architectural design and reviews of new hardware SKUs
