Consolidations Manager

Primary Role
The Consolidations Manager will be a key contributor to the month end consolidation close process as well as various financial reporting elements completed by the Corporate Controller's Group. As a primary member of the team, he/she will provide direct support towards the accurate and timely reporting of Shire's monthly / quarterly / annual results at the consolidated level. In addition to providing direct support to the Head of Consolidations and Assistant Controller, the Consolidations Manager will work closely with team members as well as the broader Finance community including Global Business Services, Treasury, Tax and Financial Planning & Analysis. This role will have responsibility to manage and deliver on key components of the month end consolidation and reporting cycle by preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and accounting reconciliations, completing reporting schedules and presentations, investigating/resolving issues impacting the consolidation and communicating said issues to management and relevant stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.

Additionally, the Consolidations Manager will be responsible for planning, reporting and implementing various Corporate Controller's Group initiatives including the accounting and system integration of recent acquisitions into Shire's global consolidation process which will include learning and transitioning legacy processes and providing solutions for supporting it in the Shire reporting environment. This role will also be responsible for assisting in system

65% Contribute to the month end consolidation close process in key areas including:
Managing questions and providing HFM and other ERP support to local accounting teams
Reviewing source financial data submitted by Shire's global entities and monitoring the overall status of the month end close as it progresses
Preparation and/or review of journal entries and reconciliations.
Preparing and/or analyzing consolidated US GAAP financial statements including the statement of cash flows
Performing analysis on consolidated results and providing explanations for large or unusual variances.
Provide support for key Corporate Controller's Group deliverables including the Earnings Release, 10-Q/K, UK Annual Report and CFO pack.

10% Ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley compliance within designated areas of responsibility by managing processes and ensuring all documented controls are observed per our internal controls process flows. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of established internal controls and making recommendations for enhancements or modifications to existing processes and systems.

15% Taking on ad hoc and project work as needed including developing best practices across the broader Corporate Controller's group, supporting system upgrades and implementations, taking the lead on sub-projects when Corporate Controller's Group representation is needed, preparing ad hoc analysis for special requests of management and providing training within areas of expertise to key stakeholders across the broader Finance organization

10% Drive an agenda of continuous improvement throughout all areas of responsibility to ensure "best in class" performance. Develop policies and procedures that support Shire's business objectives to ensure maximum accuracy and efficiency from our human and technical resources.

Education & Experience Requirements
BA / BS Degree in Accounting.
CPA/MBA preferred as well as a background in public accounting. Prior experience working in a consolidation environment is a strong plus.
Previous experience working in a global consolidation system such as Hyperion Consolidations Manager (HFM) is a strong plus
Minimum of 5 years' experience required.
Strong background and understanding of US GAAP accounting and reporting
Travel required-25% (one week per month, domestic)
