Contract Analyst

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Grain Marketing Export Administration Group. We are looking for a Contract Analyst to oversee and manage contract creation for multiple commodities from multiple loading points and origin countries to multiple destination countries. You must have strong analytical skills, be extremely detail oriented & thorough, demonstrate accountability, and understand the financial impact of transactions. To be successful you must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be flexible, a creative problem solver with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, and work independently at times but in a team environment.

You will:
  • Collaborate with merchandisers, marketers, execution team, and accounting staff to ensure accuracy and consistency in contract interpretation, negotiation and creation.
  • Understand, analyze and interpret contract terms and phrases to mitigate risk potential in new and existing Global trades with the primary goal to avoid contractual disputes while protecting company reputation and financial interests.
  • Interpret and analyze tender terms with traders, marketers and global execution teams.
  • Understand governing contracts involved in contract creation and vessel execution; interpret and apply the underlying governing contracts when and where appropriate.
  • Create contracts; understand the diverse requirements of origins and destination countries; considering different rules and regulations including government requirements of both origin and destination.
  • Establish relationships with customers (internal & external) to ensure accuracy of contract creation.
  • Build a strong rapport with other offices to establish and maintain positive working relationships to ensure successful Global contract creation between inter-company offices, profit centers and customers.
  • Serve as a liaison between traders, marketers and corporate legal and compliance departments to ensure contracts are issued according to CHS standards and within all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Administer contract negotiation record keeping process, amendments, contract summaries, etc.
  • Maintain and review documentation for internal and external audit and trade flow purposes.
  • Work with customers in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Basic Qualifications: (required)
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or other Ag Business related program with 3 years of experience in export, accounting, contract administration and/or logistics. OR Associates degree with 7 years of experience in export, accounting, contract administration and/or logistics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications: (desired)
  • Experience in an agriculture environment
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with products handled by the Grain Marketing Division
  • Strong understanding of agricultural commodities and their governing contracts
  • Knowledge of global markets, country risks and compliance regulations
