CONTRACT AND NEGOTIATIONS MANAGER
Within SSGA the Vendor Management team works across several global spend categories with a specific focus on reducing spend with third-parties. We are focused on supporting and directing internal engagement managers to define holistic category strategies for specific spend categories as well as establish relationships with internal business partners and strategic suppliers. The Contract and Negotiations Manager role is a newly created position within our team and will be responsible for leading contract development negotiations and ongoing strategic supplier management.
In addition to strategic contract negotiations you will provide strategic input into the future direction of the SSGA strategic sourcing function as a lead team member. You will also focus on optimization of internal processes work flows and interfaces to improve efficiency and productivity. You will be expected to deliver value and competitive advantage to the business as measured by customer satisfaction project execution value improvement including cost reductions and cost avoidance innovation and risk mitigation among other areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You should be able to:

  • \t\t Participate in and lead contract negotiations with vendors (i.e. renegotiations extensions terminations and new business)
  • \t
  • \t\tDraft and negotiate contract amendments which accurately reflect required modifications to existing contracts
  • \t
  • \t\tAnswer complex contract questions and provide contract interpretations
  • \t
  • \t\tAssist and advise the business on vendor disputes
  • \t
  • \t\tIdentify and mitigate issues and risks as well as assess the impact of alternative courses of action
  • \t
  • \t\tProvide sound and well-reasoned contract guidance to the business and other internal functions based upon established policies guidelines and professional judgment

  • \t\tDevelop working relationships with key internal partners
  • \t
  • \t\tCommunicate effectively and negotiate with all levels

  • \t\t Similarly you are experienced and knowledgeable in contract law. Able to train and support team in gaining a stronger understanding of contract terms and their relevance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    \t
  • \t\tBA/BS in business. MBA or JD preferred
  • \t
  • \t\t7 - 10 years prior experience in strategic sourcing
  • \t
  • \t\tExcellent interpersonal skills
  • \t
  • \t\tProven ability to effectively handle change
  • \t
  • \t\tExperience with resolution
