Current Need
McKesson is hiring a Contract Specialist in Richmond, Virginia. 


The Contract Specialist will support the Legal Department while also supporting our Chief Information Officer. The role will have responsibilities of a Contract Specialist while also performing administrative functions, including calendaring, answering phones, and small event planning. 

Position Description/General Job Family Information

  •  Drafts and reviews contracts and provides guidance on contract standards
  •  Identifies, analyzes, researches and resolves legal and business process issues and makes appropriate recommendations
  •  Participates in contract negotiations
  •  Identifies risk, determines the level of risk and routes appropriately
  •  Recommends, develops and/or implements contracting policies, procedures and processes
  •  Monitors compliance with internal McKesson business and legal processes and policies
  •  Prepares presentations for the attorneys and presents to senior leaders, as applicable
  •  Prepares contract summaries and/or issues lists to present to attorney, senior law leaders or clients for review, if applicable.
  •  Consults on legal provisions within the contracts
  •  Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of McKesson business units (BUs), products, strategy, and operational model
Job Summary

Draft, review, and analyze documents, conduct research, and work on directed assignments under the direction and oversight of a supervisor, provide administrative support to executive officers and departmental staff.  Engage in a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to those calling for judgment, risk assessment, and independent initiative.  Prepare agreements, other relevant documents, and research reports relating to contract arrangements, litigation, and other non-litigation matters.  Requires thorough knowledge of company operations, policies, and procedures.  Handle details of a highly confidential and critical nature.  Collect and prepare information for use in discussions/ meetings of executive staff and outside individuals.  Prepare presentation materials for board of director meetings.  Make high level contacts of a sensitive nature inside and outside the company.  Work on projects of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.  Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 2 year Associates degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with 0-5+ years related work experience or 4 year degree with 0-3+ years related work experience

Critical Skills
  • Experience providing high level administrative/executive support to corporate executives in a large organization.
  • High degree of flexibility, adaptability, confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and exercise sound judgment is critical.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, on multiple tasks with demanding timelines.
  • Experience in arranging airline, hotel and car rental reservations and also expense reporting and management.
  • Event planning experience (small events).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to prioritize and manage a heavy and multi-directional workload.
  • Solutions oriented and able to identify potential process efficiencies.
  • High proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional, calm demeanor and presentation, with strong interpersonal skills, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Experience working in a dual project-based and task-oriented role.

Preferred Skill
  • Experience working in the legal profession (understanding of subpoenas, contracts) or a paralegal background would be helpful.
Education

  • 2 year Associates degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with 0-5+ years related work experience or 4 year degree with 0-3+ years related work experience
