Primary responsibility is the accurate and timely performance of laboratory tests as assigned. Responsible for the oveall operation of the lab in the absence of the Director of Laboratory Services. This includes providing and supervising high quality lab testing, performing and assessing quality control data, performing preventatitve maintenance of equipment with documentation of same, computer activities with direct oversight of some lab staff, to include interviewing, training, competency assessment, annual evaluations, scheduling changes and recommendations for desciplinary actions. In addition helping develop policies in all lab areas, maintain manuals, finalize proficiency testing documentation and complete employee competency evaluations. This person should also possess a thorough understanding of all areas of operations within the laboratory & how the laboratory interacts with other hospital departments and outside customers, plus support the lab director on supplimental projects. Population served: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.
Experience: Five years as Medical Technologist including some supervisory role. Education: Must meet at least one of the requirements determined for a medical Technologist by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Rules and Regualtions of Clinical Laboratories. Must meet CLIA '88 requirements for the level of testing performed. Special Qualifications: Knowledge of all areas of stat testing in assigned sections. Technical Skills to perform all activities involved in lab sections where assigned. Technical slkills necessary to direct all activities involved in the lab section(s) she is respopnsible for. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret CAP regualtions pertinent to assigned section(s) and ensure that these regualtions are upheld.
